John P. Zornosa, M.D., F.A.C.C.


A native of Pennsylvania Dr. Zornosa is a graduate of Latrobe Senior High School. He completed undergraduate studies at Penn State University and medical school at Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia. After performing a residency at Wake Forest
University, Winston Salem, NC, he fulfilled a Public Health Service obligation at the Big Valley Medical Center, Belleville, PA. This included practicing general Internal Medicine at Lewiston Hospital. Next, he returned to Wake Forest University for four years of training in Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology (the study and treatment of cardiac rhythm disturbances). In 1992 Dr. Zornosa joined the Moffitt Heart and Vascular Group. With his wife and four children, he relocated to the Harrisburg area. At that time he was the first electrophysiologist at Harrisburg Hospital and the founder of the electrophysiology laboratory there. Among his accomplishments, Dr. Zornosa was the first in the midstate area to implant automatic defibrillating devices without the need to open the patient’s chest. He was also the first in this area to implant biventricular pacing systems. He is currently board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Electrophysiology. He is also a fellow in the American College of Cardiology and a member in good standing of the National Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology. In addition to the practice of medicine and family life, Dr. Zornosa’s interests include woodworking/cabinetry, cycling and gardening.
